SSI Specialty Course - Wreck Diver

 

Many of the ocean's best dive sites have artificial reefs, or wrecks that have sunk through the ages. This program gives you the skills and knowledge required to safely scuba dive above and around these underwater treasures. You will earn the SSI Wreck Diving certification after completing this program.

Course Content Includes:
  • Develop your practical knowledge of the underwater wreck environment

  • To raise your awareness of the historical value of wrecks, and of social and legal issues surrounding that value

  • To enable you to plan and organize dives to safely explore wrecks found within depths and conditions as good as or better than those you will be trained in

  • To identify the hazards of wreck penetration diving and demonstrate the techniques and procedures required to minimize those hazards

Prerequisite:

  • You must be at least 10 years old

  • We recommend having experience and training to be at least a Specialty Diver.

What Do I Need to Bring:
  • Current, completed medical form. If you have any "YES" answers, you MUST have a physician sign off that you are cleared to dive.

  • Your Total Diving System.

  • Rental equipment and air fills are not included with this specialty training course.

  • You will also need a primary light, back up light and reel. The primary light must have a lantern handle, suitable for using a reel and light together in an overhead environment. 

  • A 10% discount will be given on these items while in the class.

 

Where:
  • The classroom session and training dives will be held at Mermet Springs.

  • Total duration of the class is 7 hours.

Training Materials:

Upon making a deposit for this program, you will have access to your digital training program on
your MYSSI App or when you log in at www.divessi.com. You must complete all quizzes with a
score of 100% before you arrive for class.  There will be a multiple-choice exam at the end of the
classroom portion. You must pass the final exam with a score of 80% or higher.

Training Dives:​
  • You will complete 2 training dives for certification.

Class Fees:

Total cost for the class is $150.00

  • $100 includes your instruction, instructor fees, & entry into our facility.

  • $50 pays for your digital home study program, certification fees, your digital certification card, certification card, and diploma

  • A deposit of $50 plus purchasing your digital kit will hold your place in class.

  • Note:  There is a $50 rescheduling fee for anyone canceling a class with less than a 7 day notice.

  • All specialty classes should be scheduled at least 7 days in advance.
