SSI Specialty Course - Stress and Rescue

 

Stress is a major cause of diving accidents and negatively impacts rescue situations. This program teaches you the skills and knowledge required to recognize and deal with stress, prevent accidents and properly deal with emergency situations encountered by divers. The rescue diver class includes four certifications. At the conclusion of this class you will be certified in CPR, De-Fib, DAN 02 and Stress Rescue . This class is challenging and is geared for the person who is serious about their diving.

Course Content Includes:

  • What Is Stress?

  • Stress In Diving:Causes And Prevention

  • Detecting And Dealing With Stress

  • Accident Management

  • Skills Needed To Deal With Panic And Rescues

  • Conditions That Complicate Rescues

  • CPR

  • De-Fib

  • DAN O2

Prerequisites:

  • Must be at least 12 years old

  • Be an Open Water Diver or equivalent

  • Must have proof of current training within 2 years of First Aid and CPR (will be offered as part of the class)

What Do I Need to Bring:

  • Current, completed medical form. If you have any "YES" answers, you MUST have a physician sign off that you are cleared to dive.

  • Your Total Dive System.

  • Rental equipment and air fills are not included with this specialty training course.

Where:

  • The classroom and rescue scenario training dives will be held at Mermet Springs.

  • Pool sessions will be held at an area pool to be announced prior.

Training Materials:

Upon making a deposit for this program, you will have access to your digital training program on
your MYSSI App or when you log in at www.divessi.com. You must complete all quizzes with a
score of 100% before you arrive for class.You will also need to complete the DAN digital training prior to coming to class. There will be a multiple-choice exam at the end of the classroom portion. You must pass the final exam with a score of 80% or higher.

Training Dives:

  • You will complete multiple open water rescue scenarios.

​

Class Fees:

Total cost for the class is $330.00

  • $260 includes your instruction, instructor fees, & entry into our facility. Note: Diving Accident Flow Chart and 5-minute Neuro Exam are available on your SSI App for FREE.

  • $70 pays for DAN O2 Book, your digital home study program, certification fees, your digital certification card, certification card, and diploma.

  • A deposit of $100 plus purchasing your digital kit will hold your place in the class.

  • Note: There will be a $50 rescheduling fee for anyone canceling a class with less than a 7 day notice.

  • All specialty classes should be scheduled at least 7 days in advance.
