SSI Specialty Course - Search & Recovery

 

This program provides the skills and concepts required to safely plan and conduct search and recovery dives. You will learn about search patterns, specialized dive plans, underwater communication, and how to recover small to medium-sized objects using specialized equipment like lift bags. You will earn the SSI Search and Recovery Specialty certification after completing this program.

 

* Night / Limited Visibility Diving is a great add on class!

  • Factors That Affect Your Search and Recovery Operation

  • Planning and Organizing Your Search and Recovery Operation

  • Your Search Techniques

  • Your Recovery Techniques

  • Planning and conducting an underwater search

  • Planning and Organizing Your Search and Recovery Operation

  • Search patterns and techniques

  • Limited Visibility and water conditions

  • Potential hazards of underwater search and recovery

  • Techniques for safe rigging and recovery of items (using lift bags*)

Prerequisite:

  • Minimum age 12 years old. 

  • Be an Open Water Diver or equivalent. 

  • We recommend at least 24 logged dives prior to this course.

What Do I Need to Bring:

  • Current, completed medical form. If you have any "YES" answers, you MUST have a physician sign off that you are cleared to dive.

  • Your Total Dive System

  • Rental equipment and air fills are not included with this specialty training course.

 

Where:

  • The classroom sessions and training dives will be held at Mermet Springs.

  • Total duration of class is 1 day

Training Materials:

Upon making a deposit for this program, you will have access to your digital training program on
your MYSSI App or when you log in at www.divessi.com. You must complete all quizzes with a
score of 100% before you arrive for class.  There will be a multiple-choice exam at the end of the
classroom portion. You must pass the final exam with a score of 80% or higher.

Training Dives:

  • You will complete  1 confined water / pool session and 2 open water dives.

​

Class Fees:

Total cost for the class is $175.00

  • $125 includes your instruction, instructor fees, & entry into our facility.

  • $50 pays for your digital home study program, certification fees, your digital certification card, certification card, and diploma

  • A deposit of $50 plus purchase your digital kit will hold your place in the class.

  • Note: There will be a $50 rescheduling fee for anyone canceling a class with less than a 7 day notice.

  • All specialty classes should be scheduled at least 7 days in advance.
