Shark Ecology Course

Any individual that is interested in learning more about sharks should take this course.  Many humans fear sharks and news reports have given sharks a terrifying reputation.  However, is this really deserved?

Course Content Includes:
  • Learn how sharks and their behavior are often misunderstood

  • Understand how you can safely observe them in their natural habitat

  • Identify different species of sharks

  • Record various body sizes

  • Recognize unique behaviors

Prerequisite:
  • You must be at least 10 years old

​

What to Bring:
  • Your completed materials are all you will need for this specialty course

​

Where:
  • The classroom session will be held at Mermet Springs

​

Training Materials:

Upon making a deposit for this program you will gain access to your digital materials through your MySSI app or website.  You must complete all quizzes before you arrive for class.  We will track your progress and print your diploma of completion before you arrive.  There will be a multiple-choice exam at the end of the classroom portion.  You must pass the final exam with a score of 80% or higher.

Training Dives:

This is an Ecology Specialty program.  There are no training dives required for certification.

​

Class Fees:

The cost of the class is $150.

  • $100 includes your instruction, instructor fees and entry into our facility.

  • $50 pays for your digital home study program, certification fees, your digital certification card, certification card and diploma.

  • A deposit of $50 plus purchasing your digital kit will hold your place in the class.

  • NOTE: There will be a $50 rescheduling fee for anyone canceling a class with less than a 7 day notice.

  • All specialty classes should be scheduled at least 7 days in advance.
